Niamh Delahunty- Founder of Arora Education

I am a primary school leader, SENCO, dyslexia specialist teacher and assessor. In 2010, I graduated with a first class honours degree in Social Science from University College Cork, Ireland and pursued a career in primary teaching with the aim to make a real difference. In that time have since worked across a breadth of different schools, and have led in both challenging inner city primary schools to highly academic independent school settings. While doing so, I have specialised in Inclusion and Assessment. I was awarded the NASENCO award in 2015 from University College London, and completed The Dyslexia Action Postgraduate Diploma: Specialist Assessment and Teaching for Literacy-Related Difficulties in 2024, a unique and prestigious programme at Master’s Level 7 for qualified teachers to become informed practitioners and specialist teacher-assessors. The programme is quality assured by Middlesex University.

In my time as a teacher to date, I have developed a deep understanding of how a specific learning difficulty such as dyslexia can threaten progress and a child’s opportunity to thrive, particularly at primary school. I have also seen how the unique qualities of a specific learning difficulty can be harnessed to empower a learner and support them to thrive. I understand the demands of pursuing a place at an academic and sought after independent secondary school, and have extensive experience in guiding parents and learners through the process while working in the independent sector.

I continue to work in a local high performing Independent School as Head of Inclusion and Metacognition, and work with a wide ranging specialist team to meet the needs of our learners to ensure the very best outcomes.
